He married Elizabeth, daughter of Harmen Ganzevoort of Albany, about 1685, and soon after took up his residence in the township of Schenectady. He owned or leased a portion of the Sixth flat on the north side of the Mohawk river, which in 1689 he exchanged with Claas Willemse Van Coppernol for the Willegen Vlachte, lying on the south side of the river about one mile above Crane's village. The descendants of Philipse still reside on or near the Willow flat.
