Arlen T. St. Louis, a representative young attorney of Schenectady, is actively engaged in law practice as junior member of the firm of Poersch & St. Louis, with offices in the Lorraine building. He was born in Eaton, Indiana, on the 26th of April, 1895, his parents being William and Nellie (Thompson) St. Louis, the former a native of Watertown, Jefferson county, New York, and the latter of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. William St. Louis, who has followed the mason's trade throughout his active career, has made his home in Schenectady during the past twenty-seven years and is widely and favorably known here.
Arlen T. St. Louis was two years of age when brought by his parents to Schenectady in 1897. In the acquirement of an education he attended the public schools of the city, passing through consecutive grades to his graduation from the high school in 1914. Having determined to make the practice of law his life work, he then entered the Albany Law School and in 1918 was graduated from that institution with the degree of LL. B. The following year he was admitted to the bar and began the work of his chosen profession in Schenectady, where he has remained continuously to the present time. In October, 1922, he formed a partnership with Mathias P. Poersch, Jr., with whom he has since been associated as a member of the firm of Poersch & St. Louis. He belongs to the Schenectady County Bar Association and enjoys the respect and confidence of his professional colleagues and contemporaries, as well as of the general public.
In June, 1923, Mr. St. Louis was united in marriage to Miss Bernice M. Covey, daughter of Artemus and Sadie (Lucas) Covey, both of whom are natives of Cortland county, New York, and now reside in Albany. Mr. and Mrs. St. Louis make their home at No. 102 Campbell avenue in Schenectady.
Mr. St. Louis is a stanch republican in politics and has membership in the Schenectady County Republican Club. He served as a member of the legal advisory board during the period of the World war and also took an active part in all local drives. The Methodist church finds in him a consistent member and a helpful worker in its Sunday school. Mr. St. Louis likewise belongs to the college fraternity known as Phi Sigma Kappa.
