Real estate interests of Utica find an enterprising and successful young representative in Warren H. Sexton, who is prominent in that field as president of the Warren H. Sexton Company, Incorporated, which he organized in 1914. He was born on the 28th of June, 1892, a son of Michael Henry and Mattie Frances (Creagan) Sexton. The father, a leading attorney of Utica, now deceased, is mentioned on another page of this work.
Warren H. Sexton attended the Utica Free Academy and subsequently pursued special courses in chemistry at Notre Dame University of South Bend, Indiana, from which institution he was graduated in 1909. Abandoning his original plan of following the profession of chemist, he embarked in the real estate business in 1910, in association with John J. Bradley, and during the succeeding four years was a member of Bradley-Sexton Company, Incorporated. In 1914, as above stated, he organized the Warren H. Sexton Company, Incorporated, with himself as president, Michael Henry Sexton as vice president, John J. O'Neil as treasurer, and Mason F. Sexton as secretary. Warren H. Sexton has made a close study of the business and his intimate knowledge of realty values in Utica enables him to advise his clients concerning wise purchases and profitable sales. In the real estate and insurance field he enjoys a reputation for straightforward business methods and general commercial integrity not surpassed by any of his contemporaries. His present success is largely attributable to his close application and devotion to business.
On the 7th of January, 1914, Mr. Sexton was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Lewis, daughter of Charles E. Lewis of Ilion, New York. Mr. and Mrs. Sexton are the parents of two children: William Mason and Catherine Elizabeth. Since age conferred upon him the right of franchise Mr. Sexton has given his political support to the men and measures of the republican party. In fraternal circles he is known as an Elk and a Knight of Columbus, and he is also a popular member of the Utica Golf and Country Club and the City Club. His personal qualities are such that he has gained the warm friendship of many.
