Dr. Richard G. Kibbey, a successful representative of the medical profession in Utica during the past decade, is widely recognized as a physician and surgeon of pronounced skill. He was born in Corning, Steuben county, New York, on the 10th of July, 1882, his parents being Samuel and Louise (Golder) Kibbey. The father departed this life at Seneca Falls, New York, in 1914. The mother still survives and now makes her home in Syracuse, this state.
In the acquirement of an education Richard G. Kibbey attended the grade and high schools of Seneca Falls and in 1903 matriculated in the medical department of Syracuse University, from which he was graduated with the degree of M. D. in 1907. He then spent one year as an interne in St. Luke's Hospital of Utica and in 1908 entered upon the private practice of his chosen profession at Barneveld, Oneida county, where he remained for six years. On the expiration of that period, in 1914, he came to Utica, where he has continued to the present time and has been accorded a steadily growing and remunerative practice. Dr. Kibbey is anaesthetist at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica, having made a special study of anaesthetics.
On the 4th of August, 1908, Dr. Kibbey was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Doherty, daughter of John Doherty of Utica. Dr. and Mrs. Kibbey have become the parents of three children, namely: Helen Louise, whose natal day was August 31, 1910; Richard G., Jr., who was born March 17, 1913; and Mary Elizabeth, born January 18, 1917. Dr. Kibbey belongs to the Kiwanis Club and is also a worthy exemplar of the teachings and purposes of Masonry, being a member of Liberty Lodge No. 959, F. & A. M.; Mohawk Valley Consistory, A. A. S. R.; and Ziyara Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. Thoroughness characterizes all of his efforts and natural talent, acquired ability, determination and energy have enabled him to make continuous progress in his profession.
