Professional knowledge and skill in its use won early recognition for the abilities of Dr. Paul P. Gregory of Rome, Oneida county, New York, where he has established a large private practice and is known as one of the city's leading physicians. He was born in Otsego county, New York, on January 3, 1886, the son of Clayton and Julia (Pattengill) Gregory, both natives of New York, the father, who died in 1888, being a Baptist minister. The mother is living with Dr. Gregory, who is her only child.

Paul P. Gregory obtained his elementary education in the public schools of Otsego county and then entered the State Normal School at Oneonta, graduating from the latter in 1907. After this he taught school for a year before he entered Albany Medical College, at Albany, New York, where he pursued his medical studies, obtained the degree of M. D. and was graduated in 1912. After serving an interneship of one year in the Samaritan Hospital at Troy, New York, Dr. Gregory, in 1913, moved to Rome and began the general practice of medicine. He is a member of the staff of the Rome Hospital, and is examiner for the State Industrial Commission for Compensation.

Dr. Gregory was married in 1914, at Cohoes, New York, to Miss Josephine Plant, who is a member of the Rome Woman's Club. Dr. and Mrs. Gregory are the parents of two children: Paul E. and Dorothy Gregory. Dr. Gregory is a member of the American, New York State and Oneida County Medical Associations, fraternally is affiliated with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, and is a member of the Teugega Country Club. In politics he is a republican and in religion a member of the Baptist church. His favorite recreation is playing golf.
