Morgan B. Garlock, a representative and successful attorney of Utica, where he has been actively engaged in practice since 1906, is also a factor in business circles of the city as president of the Indian Castle Dairy Corporation and of the Eastern States Milk Producers, Incorporated. His birth occurred in Little Falls, Herkimer county, New York, on the 25th of December, 1882, his parents being Dr. William D. and Gertrude (Bidleman) Garlock of Little Falls, where the father has been prominent in professional circles for a number of years as a capable physician and surgeon.
Morgan B. Garlock supplemented his early education, obtained in the grammar and high schools of his native city, by a course of study in Cornell University of Ithaca, New York, which institution he attended from 1900 until 1904, the degree of Bachelor of Arts being conferred upon him in the latter year. He then entered the Columbia Law School, from which he received the degree of LL. B. at his graduation in 1906, in which year he was also admitted to the bar. He at once came to Utica and during the succeeding five years was employed in the law office of the firm of Dunmore & Ferris. On the expiration of that period, in 1911, he began practice in Utica, which city has remained the scene of his professional labors. He has become widely recognized as a lawyer of broad learning and marked aptitude in applying the principles of jurisprudence. Mr. Garlock is a member of the Oneida County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. In addition to his professional activity he is identified with business interests as the head of the Indian Castle Dairy Corporation and the Eastern States Milk Producers, Incorporated, both of which enterprises are thriving under his capable control.
On the 10th of September, 1907, Mr. Garlock was united in marriage to Miss Jessie S. Girvan, daughter of George F. Girvan of Little Falls. Their children are three in number, as follows: Sprague Girvan, who was born September 21, 1908; Roger B., whose natal day was April 29, 1911; and Eleanor M., born February 20, 1914.
Mr. Garlock is a republican in his political views but not an active party worker, preferring to concentrate his attention upon his professional and business duties. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons and the Knights of Pythias, while his religious faith is indicated by his membership in the Westminster Presbyterian church, of which he is an elder. He is also a director of the Young Men's Christian Association and a member of the Fort Schuyler Club, the University Club and the Yahnundasis Golf Club. He measures up to the highest standards of manhood and citizenship and is accorded the unqualified respect and confidence of those with whom he is associated.
