Charles Wallace Cushman, a well known Utica capitalist, now occupies the chairmanship of the board of directors of the Utica City National Bank and is also prominently identified with a number of other important corporate interests. His natal day was November 30, 1874. In January, 1921, he assumed the presidency of the Utica City National Bank, one of the oldest financial institutions in the city, which was changed from a state into a national bank in 1868. Mr. Cushman continued at its head until January 8, 1924, when he retired in consequence of being associated with other large interests that demanded his attention, but still retains the position of chairman of its board of directors. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Utica Investment Company and a director of the Utica Heater Company. A man of splendid executive force, keen discrimination and sound judgment, his cooperation and counsel have been sought in the successful control of various important business enterprises of Utica and Oneida county.
In early manhood Mr. Cushman was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Adams Gary, daughter of Dr. F. A. Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Cushman have one son, Robert Edgar. Mr. Cushman is a member of the Fort Schuyler Club and enjoys high standing in social as well as business and financial circles of Utica.
