[This information is from the diary of Andrew Cowan, a Scottish immigrant and resident of Schenectady, New York from 1797 to the mid-nineteenth century.]

Let my house to Wm McKean for the
space of four years from and after
Whistenday 1789 that is intect [?] at
Taism [?] for the Sume of Six pounds
sterling yearly and him to pay the window [?]
lights with this reserve if I sell it
to give him 5 Months warning
