A descendant of the famous Warren family of New England and New York, Alpheus Warren, was born in Pittstown, New York, died at Troy, New York, September 23, 1871, where he is buried in Oakwood cemetery. He was a son of Henry Warren, of Pittstown, New York. He was educated in his native town, worked upon his father's farm, and obtained his early start in life. He was not content with the life of a farmer, and abandoning that business he became a produce and stock buyer. He later had connections with a commission house in New York city with branches in Albany and Troy. He was an energetic successful business man, and was known all over the state among the farmers. He married Eliza Bliss, born in Lansingburg, New York, April 1, 1817, died January 10, 1883, at Troy, and is buried with her husband in beautiful Oakwood cemetery. Children:

- Eliza, a resident of Troy.
- James, married Annie Mack, and has two children, Janet and David; he is president of Benjamin & Jones Company of Troy, New York.
- Jane, born in Brooklyn, New York.
Mrs. Alpheus Warren was a daughter of Luther Bliss, born February 8, 1781, in Springfield, Massachusetts, died in Lansingburg, New York, September 25, 1854. He married Mary Ann Walsh, born in Ireland, December, 1779, died in Lansingburg, New York, February 10, 1856. Children:
