As noted by Paul Keesler in his article, "The Much Maligned Mr. Greene," some information in this book has been superseded by later research or was provided incorrectly by local sources.]

The Rome Club

On the site of Fort Schuyler of 1777. The great elm close to the old mansion was a sapling in the enclosure of the fort. It is one of America's historic trees. Near the cannon the first American battleflag was raised, August 3, 1777.
