[This information is from the diary of Andrew Cowan, a Scottish immigrant and resident of Schenectady, New York from 1797 to the mid-nineteenth century.]

(most of the first page has been scratched out, so interpretation is difficult. Some information has been repeated on page 4.)

As far as I can learn I was

and my Wife Euphemia Shelly
born 2 Jan 1765 married at greenock
1 April 1797
Left Wigtown 28 Mar sailed
from Greenock 14th April landed at New
York Sabath 18 [?] June 1797 landed at
Albany 30 June 1797 and all in good
health Left Albany Wensday 20 Sept 1797
arrived at Schenectady the same day
