Fire Station: Building 45

The Schenectady Works Fire Department was first organized in 1904. Today this organization is comprised of 9 full time firemen and 16 companies of volunteers throughout the plant, who drill regularly and who are on call for duty at all times... In addition to the fire apparatus housed in the Fire Station, additional fire protection is provided throughout the plant with automatic sprinklers, fire extinguishers, emergency fire hose, and other protective equipment... Periodic inspections are made to insure against fire hazards and to see that all fire prevention facilities are kept in proper operating condition.

Patrol Division: Building 49 E

The Patrol Division is held responsible for the enforcement of plant security regulations and for the maintenance of law and order within the Works... This division guards all entrances, regulates and directs traffic, checks employee's badges, and systematically patrols the plant to safeguard against fires, and to prevent accidents, malicious mischief, and other disturbances.
