DIRK, was in Albany in 1666, subsequently at Schenectady where he bought in 1671 a bouwery of Jurriaen Teunise Tappan, which he sold the following year to Harmen Vedder, He also bought land at Lubberde's land [Troy]. In 1667 he m. Eytje Hendrickse, who, with her three sisters, had been taken prisoners by the Indians at Yonkers in 1655. Her sister Albrechtie was rescued in 1667 and brought into New Haven. Eytje Hesselingh was a resident of Schenectady in 1697.

ROBERT, was killed in Schenectady by the French and Indians in 1690.

JAN, a native of France, came to Beverwyck previous to 1634, was subsequently commissaris of the Patroon of Rensselaerswyck, afterwards held a like office at Fort Orange under the West India Company. He bought and sold various lots and parcels of land in Albany and Schenectady. His wife was Jillesje Claase (Swits) aunt of Claas and Isaac Cornelise Swits and wid. of surgeon Harmen Myndertse Van der Bogart. It is not known that he left any descendants.

[See Albany Families.] In 1690 he was driven from his land above Schenectady, near Hoffman's Ferry, by the Indians; the same year being about to engage in an expedition against the French and Indians in Canada, he made his will; spoke of wife Catharyna. In 1705 he sold his land to Carel Hansen Toll. He had a lot also in the village, on Front Street. His son Luykas, in 1757, owned a lot on south side of State Street, 51ft. front, beginning 118ft. west from Mill Lane.

Capt. WILLIAM, with 89 men of Schenectady was at the battle of Fort George Sept. 7, 1755, where he was killed with Capt. Jonathan Stevens of the same place. According to Sir William Johnson's report "they fought like lions." He m. Margareta Veeder, Feb. 21, 1750/1, and left an only child, Alexander, who d. Feb. 13, 1770.
